O'Connor Quote

"I have found that anything that comes out of the South is going to be called grotesque by the Northern reader, unless it is grotesque, in which case it is going to be called realistic."

Flannery O'Connor, "Some Aspects of the Grotesque in Southern Fiction"

That's OK. Yankees that move here stay here. They can bring their arrogant opinions but at days end they appreciate the congeniality and pace and warmth and even religion over the cold, the impersonal, the rude, and the haughty North. The South has risen again. it's the sole bastion against the liberal tide, the most prosperous demographic nationally, NASCAR beats INDY's butt, Country is king, and even Cadillac is making trucks. It's like that leaven that leavens the whole lump. Any Yankee with open eyes and heart that dares to seek the South becomes a prisoner of his own jealousy.
